The D word

Diet .
Dukan .

I did 6 days of the Dukan Attack Phase. On Sunday I decided to give myself a day off because it was Mothers Day (& I'm not a Mother lol). This led to another day off on Monday because I couldn't be bothered preparing any high-protein meals.

So today is Day 1 of the Dukan Cruise Phase. Only 174 days to go. Today I ate about a handful of peas and then read that I wasn't supposed to eat them. Other than that, I enjoyed two vanilla no-fat yoghurts, the 1 1/2 litres of water,  2 chicken thigh grilled w/ no skin covered in mixed herbs (YUMMY!), and 2 tablespoons of the Oat Bran porridge with skim milk. I also went on a 45 minute walk and hope to keep up the efforts (yes, I know it's only day 1) for the rest of this phase.

Probably the only hard thing was drinking water and walking outdoors because it's become so COLD! But it's definitely do-able. I can do this! DUKAN DO THIS TOO (hahaha dry joke) ...

So this leaves me to DC (Dukan Cruise) Day 2 to look forward to. With two assignments already completed, I feel like I'm on top of the world! Just wish I didn't apply so much weight on top of that 'world'...

Let's do this!

Have an awesome week Dukan'eers!

Dukan Quatro

Today is Day Four of the Dukan. Went reasonably well, had some Oat Bran porridge w/ skim milk & a sachet of 'equal' sweetener. For morning tea I had 3 eggs with ham & chicken (I found the added chicken a bit much) as well as a mini canned tuna in springwater. Came home early from studies and made meatballs w/ mixed herbs, onions, 2 basil leaves, garlic and a tad bit of Dijon mustard. I also made a 'Dukan Herb Mayo' of Dijon, Fromage frais (which I made from 1 part low-fat cottage cheese and 1 part non-fat natural yoghurt), chives, and an egg. I've also almost finished  drinking my 1 1/2 litre bottle of water - I find this very handy to carry around since it pretty much lets me know how much water I need to drink for the day. Oh yeah, also forgot to mention I had one 'Forme' non-fat strawberry yoghurt. DELISH!!!

This morning I hopped on the scales and was pleased to find that I had lost just over 2 kgs. My weight fluctuates throughout the day so I'm going to weigh myself every morning and night and see what the difference is.

I must admit, as the first real diet I've attempted (past day three) I have learnt a good deal and really believe that this diet, along with exercise and sufficient sleep, is the key to my weight loss. Oh, and so is willpower. I must admit (again) that I don't crave any bread, or hot chips, or sweets like I did so badly in the first 2 days! Day One especially was the hardest! But here I am, looking forward to Day Five.

I don't think I'll update this every day, but I just might. See how I feel to tell the world wide web my journey...

Sincerely Yours,

Dukan Do It Too ;)

I was introduced to the 'Dukan Diet' by a friend who had success. After reading "The Dukan Diet" by Dr Pierre Dukan, I was convinced this was for me:

a) I can eat all the meat/seafood/eggs I want throughout the first week of the diet
b) I can eat these foods at any time I want
c) So it really feels like I'm on no diet at all

After weighing up all my options, I decided to start my Dukan on Monday 2nd May 2011. I literally woke up that morning and said "right, I'm going to start the Dukan", and I thought of 3 good reasons why it was a good time to start:

1) It was a Monday, start of a new week
2) It was May, start of a new month (well, 2nd day, but let's not get fancy)
3) I had turned 27 on Saturday, so it's like the start of my life as a 27 year old

With around 20 kgs that I want to lose, it will be a battle ahead. First day of Dukan I was really missing bread, yesterday was vegies (which I can start eating next week) and today it was sweets! So I made a Dukan Chocolate Creme which I will happily eat tomorrow.

It's only the third day and I've lost almost 2 kgs. And yes, I know that it's all water weight. But it is a nice incentive to eat more meat/eggs/tuna. Imagine the end result!

So, that's all. I'll let you all know how I'm progressing in the next few months. My aim is to lose around 20 kgs, so wish me luck!

For more info on the Dukan Diet, you can buy the book from any bookstore (it was $20 from Angus & Robertson) or check it out here.

Happy Dukan everyone!

Swap ... don't stop.

What I will learn to swap:

  • Walking down stairs rather than taking the lift (with the exception of 13+ floors lol)
  • Brown or multigrain bread for white bread
  • Water for sweet drinks
  • Blogging/reading/writing in my journal for facebook

What I know I will never swap:

  • CHOCOLATE
  • Butter

At least I'm being honest with myself, right?
