Lesson learned.

Don't you think it's funny when you read your old journal/blog entries? Actually, it makes me cringe because there are things I've written that I said I'd do, that I haven't done still.

Which brings me to this constant known as time. Over two years ago I had a set 5-year plan which included me being a new BScience graduate, married, and a world-traveller. My how things change over time! Had I not read this, I would've forgotten about that plan I had set! I know they say "if you fail to plan, you plan to fail". But what if you planned it and still failed it anyway?

It took me a while to figure out that having those set goals at this time (or EVER, for that matter) was not meant to be. Took me even longer to accept that fact, and be comfortable with that choice.

So are we supposed to continuously set goals, & change them if they never happen? I tend to think that if we don't set goals, we wont be disappointed if they never happen. Isn't that a good thing? But then I think that having goals give us direction. So... in saying that, my goals I set more than 2 years ago have led to me to this point. It has given me a different direction (hopefully not backwards) where its outcome has led to achievements of a sort. Like they say, nothing is an accident (ok, so I made that up)..

Unofficial formula:
  1. Set goals
  2. Try and make them
  3. Don't get disappointed if it doesn't work out
  4. Keep living life
  5. Back to step one
Time is constant. You can't take back anything from your past or manipulate the future. Every second passes at a constant rate. There are 60 seconds in a minute, 3600 in an hour, 86400 in a day, 604800 in a week, and 31536000 in a year. Yet every time January 1st comes around, I'm always surprised at how fast the year has gone. I think what I'm trying to say (to myself mainly, since I'm the only one who reads this haha) is to make all the 31536000 seconds count each year. Our plans may change, but time won't.

"Yes I was burned but I called it a lesson learned

Mistake overturned s
o I call it a lesson learned
My soul has returned s
o I call it a lesson learned
Another lesson learned
" - Lesson Learned, Alicia Keys

"If I had to do it all again

I wouldn't take away the rain
Coz I know it made me who I am If I had to do it all again I've learn so much from my mistakes that's how I know He is watching me" - Again, Faith Evans

Love these two songs. And it just goes to show that not only are we human, we have made our own mistakes which in turn became another lesson learned :)

Enjoy life, make it count, and count every experience as a blessing & another lesson learned.

Sincerely,
- E xoxo

Passion.

Having never been on my blog in a year or so, I'm quite surprised to find majority of my posts were about weight loss/health. Sometimes I should just take my foot outta my mouth & stop saying things I know I'll never get around to doing. Like exercising 5 times a week, or drinking 2 litres of water a day. Maybe I should blog more about chocolate, coz that's one constant that will never change ;)

Last November I bought a used DSLR camera (those big fancy ones where you can change the lenses? I know right...ooooooh!) and I had so much fun learning & taking photos here and there. It hasn't even been a year and yet this new (or renewed, counting my experience with polaroids as a 6-year-old) passion of mine has grown quite considerably! It's also deepened too (like in my wallet because photography aint exactly a cheap hobby) and I've had some awesome experiences taking pics of my pregnant sister, a friends birthday party, a friends wedding, memories from home & much more. It's also giving me the experience to shoot a friends fashion line, and a sporting event for the Tonga Tag Team (can I get a wooopwooop! lol) in the Gold Coast this October.

(I have a photography blog, if you're interested you can click here)

I leave with these wise words, in the hope we're all living our passions to the fullest! (I'd say dreams, but 'passion' seems more a verb than dreaming..)

“One person with passion is better than forty people merely interested”

- E M Forster

Have a great day, evening, week, year... how ever long until I write you next! ('You' really meaning me, myself & I. haha)

Much ofa,
- E xx
