Confessions of a food-a-holic

Guilty.

Remember about a month(ish) ago I told you about my healthy eating plan?

Ummm yeah, glad you forgot, coz so did I. lol

Point made - we all make mistakes.
Solution - to get back on the horsie!

I have 7 weeks till I go to NZ.
Doesn't leave me much time, but leaves me much incentive (to have ppl say "oh you've lost weight". none of these "you look the same" or even worse "you've gone fat"... ahhh yeah, thanks. lol)
So, we all fall short. But I will remember that my body is a temple & that I should treat it with the best! Good food & exercise.

Step 1 - I will cut out the thing I LOVE the most....
BUTTER
:(

Step 2 - to be continued...

Wish me luck!
Sincerely Yours,
- E

A bit all over the place, are we?

I'm actually really tired but feel the need to update my blog.

I didn't win tickets to Oprah's Sydney show. I bet you it's rigged though - if I see heaps of famous people in the audience, I will spew! But anyway, I'll just watch her on youtube.

My nieces are over. They are so cute! They're at that cute age when you're just the funniest person ever ^_^
I love making them laugh!

On another note, I think I'm becoming an online-social-networker-holic. I've updated my twitter three times in the past 3 minutes, stayed up especially to make a blog (crap attempt too, sorry), & updated my facebook status..twice.

Forgive me, books-food-tv-fun, for I have sinned.

Good news though - I've got people following me on twitter. Poor suckers. The rate I'm going, they're going to be seeing my many updated twits/tweets. Oh I know they'll just love it, feeling the love already (& the "unfollow" clicks haha)

I'm on fire! Not literally, more like fire-I'm-on-fire-like-I'm-sooo-hilarious-tonight.

Anywhooo, wishing you all an awesome week!
Here's hoping Friday comes by faster :)

Sincerely Yours,
- E

I was just thinking...

I remember the old apple computers we had in Primary School. I was the class computer monitor (ooooh) and there was an awesome game where you had to take a pic of a squid (anyone know which game I'm talking about?)

Nowadays my 18-month old niece knows how to unlock my iPhone & open it to her fav 'Dora the Explorer' app. And by the time she is in Primary School there is no doubt in my mind she'll not only know how to work a computer, she'll also know how to text (off an iPhone of course, or iPhone 8 in the future) and will have a facebook page, youtube account etc etc.

The point I'm trying to get at is how fast technology is moving! And it has made me think "what next?"

So that leaves me to ask -

If you could invent some sort of technological device, or something that could change our world as we know it, what would it be & why?

I would invent video telephones. Same same but different.

How do I? .. the new healthy lifestyle journey begins

So I've come to the realisation that my lifestyle aint exactly a healthy one. Here I am, determined to make things right to my poor, over-nourished body. So how do I do that? How do you manage to start something new when you've been doing something else almost your whole life?
Like chocolate.
And chippies.
And chocolate.
And ice-cream.
Chocolate... more chocolate... and everything in between!
My poor body has had such an internal bashing that I think it has had enough!

Anyway, the point of my blog is to tell my imaginary friends of my goal & plan!

I wont tell you how much I weigh, because we're not that close for me to share that information with you, but I will let you know my progress along the way.

My main motivation is this:

"Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's."
- 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

If I am determined to change my bad eating habits & lazy lifestyle, I've got to have a really good motivation tool to do so. And I've come to understand that it's not enough just to 'lose weight' because I want to look good, or because I want to impress someone, or because others tell me so - it has to come from a cause wayyy more worthy than myself! Don't get me wrong, those are valid reasons & if that helps you then awesome! But everyone is different :)
If I  remember that my body is a temple & that it's not mine but merely something 'bought with a price' then how better to show my Heavenly Father my love for the temple he has given me than to treat it with the respect it needs. Yes darlings! Putting in the healthy, nourishing petrol it needs. Giving it drives around the block the days I put the petrol in. A process of filling, driving, & re-filling and using only the best petrol in the most expensive car I own (yep, you better start thinking of your body as your dream car because 'you're worth it' hehe).

If we remember to 'glorify God in your body, and in your spirit' through a healthy lifestyle as one example, then I don't see the reason that Heavenly Father wouldn't withhold any blessings from any of us.

So.. lets begin! It may not be easy, but it'll be worth it (note: I'm saying this more to myself than to you lol)

Join me on this worthy & noble quest!

Sincerely Yours,
- E

Purrr-fect

Tonight I learned about many different essential oils and their properties & what it's best used for. I feel so relaxed right now (exactly like this kitty!) from the smell of the oils on my skin.
I'm a firm believer that natural is best & processed is pest (I made that up myself hehe) but it's so hard to act on what you believe in today's world - what with prescription medicine (who knows what's really inside them!) and processed foods. Don't get me wrong, I love me a McChicken, but how do we find the balance so that our bodies are getting the nutrients it really needs? Why am I always bloated? How can I lose those unwanted kilos? Answer to these and other questions you may have lie essentially within these essential oils!
I don't possess enough knowledge to pass it onto you, my ghost friend, but I do advise you to google 'doterra essential oils' and see what you get. It may just change your life! (Ok, I'm exaggerating a little but you never know) :) smiles.

Wishing you a relaxing week,
& Sincerely Yours,
- E

Never Lose Hope

I'm at a stage of my life where my actions are scrutinized and I find that there are those lurking in dark corners waiting for me to slip up.
I'm also at that stage where I'm trying not to doubt myself in what I can do (particularly in my role as President of the Tongan students Association) - just because someone else is a more elaborate, charismatic speaker does not mean I have to try be one to. I've learnt (just now) that all I should do in trust in the Lord and never lose hope.

“My message to you today, my brothers and sisters, is simply this: the Lord is in control. He knows the end from the beginning. He has given us adequate instruction that, if followed, will see us safely through any crisis. His purposes will be fulfilled, and someday we will understand the eternal reasons for all of these events. Therefore, today we must be careful to not overreact, nor should we be caught up in extreme preparations; but what we must do is keep the commandments of God and never lose hope!”
- M. Russell Ballard, “The Joy of Hope Fulfilled,” Ensign, Nov. 1992, 31

May we never lose hope and continue trusting in the one who 'knows the end from the beginning'. In all thine ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your path.

Sincerely Yours,
- E

He Is Reachable Any Time and Any Place

“Access to our Creator through our Savior is surely one of the great privileges and blessings of our lives. I have learned from countless personal experiences that great is the power of prayer. No earthly authority can separate us from direct access to our Creator. There can never be a mechanical or electronic failure when we pray. There is no limit on the number of times or how long we can pray each day. There is no quota of how many needs we wish to pray for in each prayer. We do not need to go through secretaries or make an appointment to reach the throne of grace.
He is reachable at any time and any place.”

FlashForward

is the name of a tv-show I just watched on TV & basically it's about a massive blackout that happens in America (of course lol) which causes each person to see a snippet of their future 6 months from now (or the time of the blackout).

That kinda made me think what my 'FlashForward' would look like. What would I be doing? Would I be dating someone? Would I have stable income i.e. a job? Would I be 20kgs lighter?

Then it made me think about my Patriarchal blessing (that I'm anticipating to receive in the mail woohoo) and how that is kind of like my 'FlashForward' but not of 6 months from now, but of my life.
For those of you that don't know, a Patriarchal Blessing is a special blessing given to us from our Heavenly Father via a Patriarch (who has the authority from God to do so) and it contains a whole lot of blessings we will receive, dependent on our faith and obedience to receive them.

So, in saying that, what would you want your FlashForward of your life to look like? Where do you see yourself not only in 6 months but in 1 year? In 5 years? 10?
If you knew that a loving Father in Heaven saw so much potential in you and had an awesome life planned out for you, would you want to know what HE sees?

It's definitely humbled me & has made me stop looking back, because I, for one, was number one culprit in letting my past dictate my future. So, just like they say in "Meet the Robinsons", lets:
Keep Moving Forward :)

Sincerely Yours,
- E

Today ..

I decided I wanted to become an Editor.
Although I don't read as many books as I should, or write as many blogs as I should, I find that my grammatical skills quite good. (That's so blowing my own trumpet). It's actually not that great - but I find myself correcting a lot of sentences these days. (I wish teenagers spelled properly! Literacy should be the new cool. Think of it - a campaign saying "Literacy iz da nu cool"! My stomach just turned, thanks).

Yesterday I wanted to start a child-care business starting with my own nephews - i.e. making up creative activities for the under-5. That changed when I went to my 4-year old nephew's birthday party last night, there were too many hyperactive kids. It made me tired.

Sunshine word(s) for today: Think positive.

(That's what I keep thinking as a young woman in her mid-20's who is still studying and looking for - and needing - paid work. Any takers? I can spell; have good grammar; good hygiene; and can think of a great new campaign targeting illiterate teenage youth! Think about it..)

Sincerely Yours,
- E
